What drove the Montforts to create All Hat No Cattle PAC ?
Joel and Angelica Montfort have been involved in DFW elections for several election cycles and started to realize that many of the Democratic candidate’s approaches to elections in our state are underfunded, uncoordinated, and messy. They do not receive the support or infrastructure they need to run a successful campaign.
Their frustration with the lack of political coordination at the state legislature level led them to create their PAC, All Hat No Cattle. While both of them believe Texas is close to the tipping point of turning Democratic, they do not see the needed infrastructure and coordination required at the state level to flip the Texas House and Senate seats needed to make it a reality. Joel states clearly, “Every election, each candidate must start from scratch in our state and reinvent the wheel for their campaign. As a result, precious months are lost while they endure the brutal learning curve of running for their district and trying to reach out to voters, that needs to be rectified.”
About Angelica and Joel Montfort
Angelica and Joel are two passionate Democrats who connected during quarantine and married last year. Angelica has been a dedicated volunteer for the Democratic Party for many years. She “Felt the Bern” in 2016 and 2020, and served as an elected National Delegate for Bernie Sanders in 2020. Joel has spent the last decade working within the Democratic party as an Executive Committeeman and a Precinct Chair in Collin County. He also founded Richardson Area Democrats and was recently president of Plano Area Democrats.
Professionally, Angelica is a Regional Director at a property management company, while Joel is a Democratic political consultant in Texas.
They have a large family with five children between them and that is one of the main driving forces in their efforts to change the ways of Texas. They believe Texas must change to keep up with the rapidly shifting demographics of our state and be a place their children want to live in, rather than its current position anchoring conservative efforts to thwart progress. Texas must lead the charge in racial equality, education, women’s healthcare rights, renewable energy, and many more important Democratic issues.
All Hat No Cattle was created to achieve these ideals, and experience has taught the Montforts that focusing on the Texas Legislature is key to a brighter, progressive Texas.
